My story

It's lovely to meet you here. My name is Kim and I am the founder of  The Threshold.

Born in Liverpool, of mixed Chinese and English heritage, I am a mother of four sons and an artist devoted to icon writing. I hold a doctorate in anthropology and have worked for decades as a social activist with refugees and asylum seekers.

Trained as an interfaith chaplain with Upaya in Santa Fe, USA and as a spiritual accompanier with Sarum, UK, I love to integrate the contemplative Christian tradition with imaginal practices, dream work, and soul-making.

I am passionate about guiding personal transformation with warmth and wisdom and I love to support others to step over the threshold into the divine space of mystery and unknowing.

Core Values of The Threshold

  • Welcome and Inclusivity: Open to all, regardless of background or belief.

  • Integration: Uniting creativity, spirituality, and curiosity in a holistic approach.

  • Reconnection: Encouraging connections to self, others, and God.

  • Restoration: Promoting peace and renewal in both the natural and created environments.

The Threshold invites all who enter to explore and celebrate life's deeper questions, offering a space of transformation, inspiration, and sacred encounter.

What is Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction is a practice of deep listening and discernment, where a trained guide accompanies individuals on their journey of faith and self-discovery. Rooted in ancient traditions, it creates a safe, reflective space to explore your relationship with God, life’s questions, and what really matters.  Through prayerful dialogue, meditation, deep listening and attentive presence, spiritual direction helps uncover the sacred in daily life, navigate transitions, and deepen connection with the Divine. Open to all faiths or none, it’s a transformative journey toward greater awareness, authenticity, and alignment with your inner calling.

"Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes."  —Carl Jung
